Shanghai-Tong Railway Project
The Shanghai-Tong Rapid Railway, a high-speed railway connecting Shanghai and Nantong, Jiangsu Province, is an important part of the coastal channel, one of the main channels of the "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed railway in the "Medium and Long-term Railway Network Plan" revised in 2016. The construction of the Tongtong Rapid Transit Railway officially started on March 1, 2014, and it is expected to be completed and opened to traffic by the end of 2020. The rapid railway runs from Pingdong Station to Huangdu Station, with a total length of 1318 kilometers and 9 stations, and a maximum speed designed for 200 km/h. After completion, the Shanghai-Tong Railway will form a seamless connection with Ningqi Railway, Yantong Railway, Lianyan Railway, Qinglian Railway and Qingyanwei Railway, and become a rapid railway passage from Yantai to Shanghai. It is of positive significance to expand Shanghai's economic development space, promote the adjustment of industrial layout in the Yangtze River Delta region, and realize regional resource sharing.
